BEFORE YOU BEGIN
1 CAUTION: Read the instructions completely
before you begin installing or operating the
lift. Pay particular attention to the "Important
Warnings and Cautions."
2 CAUTION: For smooth and reliable opera-
tion, the lift must be installed parallel to the
ceiling and ceiling tiles.
3 Because of the size and weight of the lift, SMS
recommends that at least two people install
the lift.
4 If you have any questions concerning the

IMPORTANT WARNINGS
AND CAUTIONS
• WARNING: Improper installation can result
in serious personal injury. Make sure that all
the fasteners and the ceiling structure can
support at least four times the combined
weight of the lift and the projector
(max. 36 kg).
• WARNING: There are pinch points in the
unit. Be careful with hands and electrical
wiring.
• WARNING: Potential for personal injury
and property damage to the lift if not
properly mounted. The lift (without the
projector) weights approximately 24 kg.
• WARNING: Use only a qualifi ed electrician
for the installation of electrical outlets.
Follow all electrical codes. Unit operates
on 24V DC.
• CAUTION: Test the lift for shipping damage.

• CAUTION: For smooth and reliable opera-

be unobstructed to permit proper operation.
PLANNING
5 Based on screen location and projector speci-
fi cation, determine proper position for
projector installation.
6 Confi rm that there is adequate space for
installation and operation.
7 Arrange to provide service access to the lift.
8 Maximum weight of the projector is 12 kg.
PRE-TEST THE LIFT
BEFORE INSTALLATION
IMPORTANT: Before mounting the lift in the
ceiling, test the lift to make sure that it operates
properly and has not been damaged during
shipping.
a Open carton and make sure the unit is
undamaged.
b Make sure the SMS Secret order including any
optional accessories is complete, see the parts
list on page 4.
c Test the lift before installing.

HANGING UNIT
The SMS Secret is equipped with four (4)
mounting points for suspending the unit from
above. All installations should observe the
following guidelines:
1 During installation, ensure that all fasteners
and supports are of adequate strength to
securely support the SMS Secret and the
projector. It is recommended that the
hardware structure be able to hold at least
four times the combined weight of the lift and
the projector (max. 36 kg).
2 Fastening methods must be suitable for moun -
ting surface and securely anchored so vibration
and abusive pulling on unit will not weaken
the installation.
3 Bottom of unit must not be obstructed after
installation.
4 Do not use unit to support ceiling, light fi x-
ture, etc.
5 Check that all the screws are tightened and
that the springs are properly mounted.
6 Do not complete the ceiling bottom unit until
electrical connections have been completed
and the unit has been operated successfully.
