Set up
1. Connect base
Plug the power adapter and the phone
cable into the back of the phone base.
Plug the other end of the power adapt-
er into the wall. Do not connect the
telephone cable to the wall socket.
2. Install battery pack
3. Charge handset
Charge the phone for a minimum of 15
hours before use.
3. Register the handset to a PowerTel
500, 580, 580 Combo or 680
The new handset must be registered to
the PowerTel base before use.
At the new PowerTel 501 additional
handset:
Press and hold
for 10 seconds
until the display shows Press and
hold Page key, which activates the
registration mode.
For a PowerTel 500 or 580, at the base:
Press and hold
(500) or
(580) for 10 seconds until the
charging light on the base fl ashes.
For PowerTel 580 Combo, at the base:
Press and hold
for 10 seconds
until the display shows Register.
Make a call
1. Enter the phone number using the
handset's keypad.
2. Dial the number by pressing
End a call -
Press

Take a call
1. Lift the handset off the base and
speak into the phone.
2. If the handset is off the base, press
and then speak into the phone.
Mute the phone
1. To switch off the microphone, press
. Mute On will be displayed.
