Ultraviolet light can detect if paper currency and other official documents (including credit cards, driver's licenses, travelers checks, passports, and green cards) are
authentic or counterfeit. The ultraviolet light allows you to see fluorescent strips, dots, or other markings used on authentic bills and documents. The special fibrous
paper that currency is made from is not fluorescent, where as a counterfeit bill printed on bleached or white paper will reflect ultraviolet light, causing the bill to glow.
