SERIE OCS-250
DESCRIPTION
The OCS-250 consists of DC-AC converters, with the output voltage consisting of a 230 Vac
sine wave. The frequency can be set to 50 or 60 Hz, and input and output are galvanically
isolated.
OCS-250 inverters consist of two cascaded converters, namely, one DC-DC generating an
intermediate output voltage from the input voltage. That intermediate voltage is inverted to the
set output voltage and frequency by means of a second DC/AC converter.
The topology for the first converter is an push-pull converter that switches at a fixed frequency
and provides the isolation between input and output. The second converter also consists of a
fully controlled PWM bridge that also switches at a fixed voltage and is equipped with an LC
output filter that removes the switching frequency components and delivers a sinewave output.
The OCS-250 inverter is equipped with an input polarity reversal safety feature that protects the
circuit by means of an external fuse. It also features maximum average power protection as well
as maximum output peak current protection. This protects the semiconductors even when an
output short-circuit occurs. It also features a disable function for input undervoltage, which
protects the batteries from harmful discharges.
INSTALLATION
There are three connection options: TERMINAL BLOCKS, FASTON strip and DIN-41612-H15
connector.
The units can be mounted in EUROCARD racks by means of the 4 corner holes or in
standardized PREMIUM box model: NP-9134 (base+cover) or NP-9125 (base). This box protect
the converter mechanically and provide several mounting options.
STARTUP
• Make connections as shown in the table.
• The default output frequency is 50 Hz. For 60 Hz simply actuate the dip-switch as indicated in
the figure.
• In order to supply a power output close to the maximum allowed, the mounting position
should enhance natural convection cooling and the board should be in vertical position (as
shown in the figure).
• The inverter includes active overload protection but does not provide protection against
prolonged reactive overload conditions. Therefore, the maximum power output (VA) should
not be exceeded.
For safety reasons, the following requirements must be met:
• Provide the equipment with some kind of protective enclosure that complies with the
electrical safety directives in effect within the country where the equipment is installed.
• An external fuse should be provided at the inverter input: 30A(input 12V); 15A (input 24V);
8A (input 48V); 4A (input 115V).
