While the Echö is considered safe for "continuous use" by regulatory bodies
including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), we recommend limiting
use in short intervals, infrequently and primarily after the first trimester.
• To determine the baby's heart rate in beats per minute (BPM), you can count
the heartbeats for one minute. Do this at least 3 times and average the results
to get a more accurate reading. The baby's heart rate can vary based on
the level of activity. Consult your healthcare provider for more information.
• The Echö is NOT intended to be used for diagnostic or medical purposes and
is not to be used as a substitute for regular prenatal care by a licensed doctor.
Contact your healthcare provider for assistance if you are concerned.
6. Recording
• Connect the Computer Recording Cable to the Echö using the USB Mini
plug and connect the other end to a recording device. Recording devices
could be your computer using the microphone jack or any external recording
equipment using the audio in jack. You can use a basic free recording
software that usually comes with your computer or available online.
• Another way to get a recording is to connect the Echö to an external audio
speaker and then use your smart phone or tablet to record a live video.
Then you can share the video with your loved ones right from your phone.
• You may also record the mother's heartbeat at the same time and keep this
recording to play it to soothe your newborn baby at daycare and at home.
7. Maintenance
• The transducer is fragile and must be handled with care. Please check that
the Echö does not have visible signs of damage that may affect user safety
or monitoring capability before use, this includes:
- Visual Inspection (see section 8)
- Cleaning the Echö and its accessories (see section 9)
- Checking the battery level
