Product description
This chapter provides information on the special features and proper-
ties of the TR4 safety switch. It describes the construction and the
operating principle of the device.
Please read this chapter before mounting, installing and commission-
ing the device.
3.1
Function description
The electrosensitively operating TR4 safety switch comprises two com-
ponents:
a sensor
a coded actuator (transponder)
The sensor is fitted to the fixed part of the guard, the actuator to the
moving part.
If the guard is closed, the actuator is moved towards the sensor. On
reaching the switch-on distance, the actuator's code is read by the sen-
sor and evaluated. If there is a valid actuator in the response range of
the sensor, the two safety outputs OSSD OUT A and OSSD OUT B (semi-
conductor outputs) are closed and the application diagnostic output
OUT Aux is opened.
If the guard is opened and the actuator is removed from the response
range of the sensor, then the sensor switches its safety outputs off and
the application diagnostic output on.
There are two different systems:
TR4 Multicoded
TR4 Unique Coded (products are marked with "CODED")
Both the sensors and the actuators in the two systems are different
and can only be operated with the matching mating element.
TR4 Multicoded
The TR4 Multicoded accepts all Multicode actuators.
TR4 Unique Coded
On the TR4 Unique Coded a Unique Coded actuator must be taught-in
during commissioning. From then on the TR4 Unique Coded only ac-
cepts this actuator.
