CANDLING

An egg has to be candled at least three times during the whole incubation process.
FIRST CANDLING
th
6
day of the incubation process.
The blood vessels in the egg resemble a spider web
and during accurate candling the movements of the
embryo can be seen.
SECOND CANDLING
12th day of the incubation process.
The blood vessels are thicker and the movements of
the embryo are more lively. If the colour of the blood
vessels isn't clear and the embryo doesn't move, it
may be that the development/growth of the egg has
stopped: the egg isn't viable anymore.
THIRD CANDLING
th
18
day of the incubation process.
During the growth of the embryo the air chamber
becomes smaller and smaller. At candling the whole
egg will be black/dark with exception of the air
chamber.
