Sharpening scissors:
1 . Switch the tool ON
2. Open the scissors fully
3. Place one of the blades in the Scissor Sharpening Slot (1), keeping the pivot of the scissors and
the other blade to the right hand side (Image G)
4. Draw the length of the blade across the Grinding Wheel (5) from pivot to tip. Use a light, steady
pressure; do not press hard
5. Remove and turn the scissors over to sharpen the other blade
6. Repeat sharpening each blade in turn until clean, sharp edges are attained
7. Switch the tool OFF and allow the Grinding Wheel to stop completely before removing the Knife
& Scissors Sharpening Module

Maintenance
WARNING: ALWAYS disconnect from the power supply before carrying out any inspection,
maintenance or cleaning.
Replacing the grinding wheel
Note: The nut securing the Grinding Wheel (5) is left-hand threaded. To loosen the nut, turn it
clockwise. To tighten the nut, turn it anticlockwise.
1. Remove any module that is obscuring direct access to the Grinding Wheel
2. Whilst holding the Grinding Wheel loosen the securing nut
3. Replace the Grinding Wheel and securing nut
4. Ensure the left-hand threaded nut is securely fastened
General inspection
• Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight
• Inspect the supply cord of the tool, prior to each use, for damage or wear. Repairs should be
carried out by an authorised SILVERLINE service centre. This advice also applies to extension cords
used with this tool
Cleaning
WARNING: ALWAYS wear protective equipment including eye protection and gloves when cleaning
this tool .
• Keep the tool clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal parts to wear quickly and shorten
the device's service life
• Clean the body of your machine with a soft brush, or dry cloth
• Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts. If dry cleaning is not sufficient, a mild detergent
on a damp cloth is recommended
• Water must never come into contact with the tool
• Ensure the tool is thoroughly dry before using it
• If available, use clean, dry, compressed air to blow through the ventilation holes (where
applicable)
Lubrication
• Slightly lubricate all moving parts at regular intervals with a suitable spray lubricant
Brushes
• Over time the carbon brushes inside the motor may become worn
• Excessively worn brushes may cause loss of power, intermittent failure, or visible sparking
• If you suspect that the brushes may be worn, have them replaced at an authorised SILVERLINE
service centre
Storage
• Store this tool carefully in a secure, dry place out of the reach of children
