3 - Connect the connection cables to the vehicle battery. Red clamp on the positive + / black clamp on the negative -.
4 - Select the
- "wet charge" mode (Figure 14) for liquid electrolytical batteries
- or "GEL" charge (Figure 15) for GEL or AGM batteries.
In case of doubt, always use the "wet charge" mode (Figure 14).
BOOST mode (to be used if the charger does not start):
When a battery is completely discharged, it is probably damaged, in which case the FACOM BCS.12-15 "Battery Station" will not start
charging, and the error indicator will be lit permanently.
To wake up these batteries, the FACOM BCS.12-15 "Battery Station" features a BOOST mode allowing to save certain batteries. Apply the
"Charging a battery connected to a vehicle or not" procedure. If the RED indicator is lit after step 4, press the "Wet" or "GEL" selection button
for 5 seconds, the BOOST mode starts, the GEL and WET indicators flash simultaneously. Once the BOOST mode is no longer required, the
normal charging cycle will resume automatically.
Starting a vehicle
Your BCS.12-15 is fitted with a battery used to start 12V vehicles without connection to mains.
1 - Check that the charge level of the internal battery is sufficient. Press the "Internal charge level" button (Figure 16). If the red LED to
the left of the charge indicator (Figure 12) is lit, recharge the internal battery before using the FACOM BCS.12-15 "Battery Station".
2 - Check that the connection cables to the vehicle are stored properly (Figure 31 and 32) and the power switch is set to
"CHARGER ON / BOOSTER OFF" (Figure 25).
3 - Connect the red clamp (+ Positive) to the positive terminal of the battery of the vehicle to start.
4 - Connect the black clamp (- Negative) to the negative terminal of the battery of the vehicle to start.
5 - Check that the ALARM indicator is off and the cable polarities correct.
6 - Set the power switch to "BOOSTER ON" (Figure 26).
7 - Start the vehicle. Never activate the vehicle's starter for more than 8 consecutive seconds. Wait for 1 minute between
two starting attempts.
8 - Once the vehicle starts, set the power switch to "CHARGER ON / BOOSTER OFF" (Figure 25).
9 - Disconnect the red clamp (+ Positive) from the positive terminal of the vehicle's battery, and store the cable.
10 - Disconnect the black clamp (- Negative) from the negative terminal of the vehicle's battery and store the cable.
Supplying a vehicle when changing its battery
A vehicle can be supplied through an accessory plug supplied "Before ignition" to preserve audio and guiding system theft protection
•
memories when changing the battery.
In case of overload exceeding 20A, the thermal protection will be triggered and the circuit cut. (In which case the memories are lost).
•
To reset the thermal protection, just press the button (Figure 22).
To supply the vehicle, just connect the FACOM BCS.12-15 "Battery-Station" (Figure 23) to an accessory outlet in the vehicle, using the
