1. GENERAL INFORMATION

It is widely recognised and renowned in the field of wireless security systems, that there is the need to install
smoke detectors in zones which are difficult to reach with connection cables or in situations where classical
installation methods are not possible due to architectonic or artistic peculiarities in the location to be protected.
GW 20483 therefore represent an excellent solution to these requirements and its technical specifications are
ideal for use with the GW 20470 and GW 20471 wireless control units, making it possible to create sophisticated
burglar and fire alarm systems.
The sensor is mechanically connected to a baseboard, with a simple rotation hook on system, and the baseboard
is in turn fastened to a lightly longer plastic base which houses the wireless control electronic system and three
9V alkaline batteries to run it.
GW 20483 functions on a system which controls the amount of smoke in the internal reflection chamber, in fact
the smoke micro-particles reflect the light from the photoemission diode towards a photosensitive element which
is not within optical range, until it exceeds the set threshold and activates an alarm status. The sensor alarm status
is indicated by the LED situated under the sensor which lights up for a few seconds, and then immediately by the
flashing red light on the main base that displays the transmission of the alarm code in progress; the memory
resetting and correct reinstatement of the sensor, constant control over removal, transmission of surveillance
mode and the battery efficiency status are procedures which are handled automatically by the electronic control
board on the main base.
The sensor and its detector chamber have been specifically designed to prevent any problems caused by
turbulence, unexpected air movements and collection of dust and despite being a wireless sensor, it needs
periodic maintenance in order to keep the detector chamber clean.
The remote device is identified by the transmission of a digital code using the frequency foreseen for low power
remote controlled and medical devices (LPD) pursuant to the European Standards. The code is generated when
the device is installed, a valid random code using a 4.294 x 102 combination system is transmitted; a reception
collision-proof procedure is activated to increase the level of security on the system.
The operative range of these devices is assessed on an open field basis, with no obstacles, and is generally 80
metres; in some internal environments which have particular building features, it is possible that this range will decrease.
