Introduction
This battery main switch can be operated both by hand and
electrically by remote control. The switch is suitable for the
large currents required for a bow thruster or anchor windlass,
for example.

Operating

Switching on
Make sure that the large red knob on
the battery main switch is pulled out.
Press the green key ( I ) on the remote
control briefly. The battery main switch
will now be switched on. The light on
the remote control will come on.
Switching off
Press the red key ( O ) on the remote
control briefly. The battery main switch
will now be switched off. The light on
the remote control will go out.
EMERGENCY switching off
Push in the large red knob on the bat-
tery main switch.
Installation
Disconnect all battery cables if battery main switch is
being added to an already existing installation.
Then install the battery main switch and the cables as
described in this manual.
Make sure that the battery main switch is set to 'OFF'
while connecting it.
Series-parallel switch
Use a 12 Volt battery main switch if a 24 Volt bow thruster is
connected to a 12 Volt on-board network in combination with
a series-parallel switch.
Use a 24 Volt battery main switch if a 48 Volt bow thruster is
connected to a 24 Volt on-board network in combination with
a series-parallel switch.

Note
Battery main switch
Fit the battery main switch as close as possible to the battery for
the bow thruster or anchor windlass in order to keep the cables
for the battery main switch as short as possible.
The switch is designed to be built into a bulkhead. See 'Drill
template' for the size of hole required. See 'Main dimensions'
for the build-in space required.
The battery main switch must be connected in the − (ground)
cable from the battery to the engine.
See 'Wiring diagrams' for how to connect the battery main
switch.
Main current cables
Use cables with sufficient cross-section for the main current.
Use cable terminals to connect the main current cables to the
switch.
Remote control
Position the remote control at a readily accessible place near
the steering position.
See 'Remote control' for the space and the size of hole
required.
Fit the remote control as shown in the drawings 'Remote con-
trol'.
Lay the cable between the battery main switch and the remote
control in the ship and connect the plug connections together.
If it is necessary to cut the connecting cable and to reconnect it
later, make sure that the cores are connected colour to colour.
If there are two steering positions both panels can be connected
to the battery main switch by means of a T-piece or splitter.
Checking the working
- Connect the battery cables to the battery.
- Switch the battery main switch on; see 'Operating', 'Switching
on' and check that the bow thruster or the anchor windlass
works properly.
- Switch the battery main switch off again; see 'Operating',
'Switching off' and check that the bow thruster or the anchor
windlass can no longer be switched on.
