Before actuating the foot control, which will initiate operation of your Athena Champion
Little Guy or Little Pro handpiece, please review the following:
• Tubing properly connected to your air source and no leaks in your unit.
• Handpiece firmly installed on the tubing connector.
• Bur, contra angle or prophy angle properly installed on the handpiece.
• Forward and reverse control ring (if applicable) is in full forward or reverse position.
• A ir pressure at the handpiece has been set to 40-45 PSI.
• A few drops of Champ-Lube 20+ have been placed in the drive air port.
• T he chuck release ring is in the fully closed position and the cutting instrument or
attachment is firmly held in position.
You are now ready to run your Little Guy or Little Pro handpiece!

Caution: Wear mask, gloves and protective eye wear.
1. M anually clean and remove all visible soil, such as saliva, from the handpiece prior
to sterilization. Do not use cold sterilization solutions containing phenols, acids or
chlorine. Do not immerse the handpiece in water or disinfecting solutions. Do not
place in an ultrasonic bath.
2. L ubricate handpiece with one to two drops of Champ-Lube 20+. Place the lubricant
cleaner in the drive air hole at the back of the handpiece.
3. Connect the handpiece to an air source or attach to a purge unit.
4. R un the handpiece 30-40 seconds or until all excess lubricant is expelled. Any excess
lubricant remaining on the surface of the handpiece should be cleaned with a 2 x 2
gauze sponge.
5. B efore autoclaving, remove any attachments, burs or shipping blanks from the
handpiece. Insert the handpiece into a sterilization pouch. Place into a steam
autoclave. Sterilize at 135°C (275°F) per autoclave manufacturer's parameters.
Do not let the Little Guy or Little Pro remain in pouch under wet or damp conditions.
Such conditions can result in corrosion of internal parts and shorten the life of the
handpiece.
6. A fter removing the motor from the autoclave, allow it to return to ambient room
temperature before use.
Frequent cleaning and lubrication are essential to long bearing life.
