3.1. Air quality

The coalescing filter mounted on the wall
(SAGOLA Models 5200 or 5300), together with
the carbon filter of the equipment's pre-set
regulator supplies an air quality in accordance
with BS 4275 (UNE-EN 132) if the operating
instructions specified in section 9, Maintenance
and Service, are correctly applied.
These parameters establish that the air supplied
for breathing should not contain excessive
impurity in the form of:
- Carbon monoxide: 5 ppm (5.5 mg/mm3)
- Carbon dioxide: 500 ppm (900 mg/mm3)
- Oil particles: 0.5 mg/mm3
The air should also be free of odour and
contamination. Installation of the SAGOLA 5050
pre-filter in the compressed air network, before
the SAGOLA 5200 or 5300 unit, is
recommended.
WARNING: The SAGOLA 5050 pre-filter DOES
NOT ELIMINATE CARBON MONOXIDE;
CARBON DIOXIDE OR OTHER GASES.

3.2. Compressed air supply hose

The approval of this equipment includes the
compressed air supply hoses, so it is essential
that the equipment be used only with original
SAGOLA hoses.
- This equipment is designed for use against
contaminants that are not hazardous to life or
health, where the breathing apparatus is not
essential for survival.
- It is possible that with very high work rates the
air pressure inside the face mask may become
negative momentarily for the user while breathing.
If this happens contact SAGOLA customer
service.
- The equipment is designed for use with
compressed air; compressed oxygen or enriched
oxygen sources should not be used. If there is
1. It is possible to measure the pressure of the
air supplied.
2. From the general compressed air network the
air will arrive at the equipment at the proper air
pressure (Section 3.4).

3.3. Working and storage temperature

The equipment is designed to work in a
temperature range of 1.5 to 50° C, with a humidity
of 80% RH. It is recommended that the team be
maintained stored in an environment of between
0 and 40° C and a humidity of up to 80% RH, in
a clean and dry place, and preferably covered,
for example in a plastic bag.

3.4. Compressed air pressure

The equipment is designed to operate with
compressed air pressure supplied at between 4
and 10 bar at the entrance to the hose. The mask
requires a minimum supply of 160 l/min. (5.4
cfm) and, if used with a spray gun, with a
minimum of 620 l/min. (21 cfm) supplied with a
pressure of 6 bar (90 psi).

3.5. Air hoses

The air supply hose to the pre-set regulator
should have an internal diameter of 4/16" or Ø
8 mm.
The suggested maximum lengths of hose
required to maintain a secure supply volume are:
- 5 m at 4.0 bar (60 psi)
- 7.5 m at 4.5 bar (70 psi)
- 10 m at 5.5 bar (80 psi)
The hose must be a non-toxic type and not
curled. It must of course be replaced if scratched
or marked.
any doubt about the capability of the equipment
to carry out the work consult SAGOLA customer
service.
- If the supply ceases or is significantly reduced,
leave the contaminated area and check for
possible equipment failure.
- Any modifications made to the equipment, or
replacement of any components with others that
are not original, may reduce the protection
provided to the user and invalidate the HSE
protection and guarantees provided by the
manufacturer.
3. The air that arrives will be within the standard
of breathability.
4. The air hose is long enough for the user of the
equipment to work without having to take off the
equipment.
