BASEMENT FLOOR
Installation Procedures
1. Establish where the interceptor will be located. If recessed in the floor you will
need to cut out an area large enough to accommodate the interceptor and the
piping lines needed. Interceptor intake should face the last sink or fixture being
served. Interceptors placed on the floor should be placed in an area that leaves
clearance for removing lid and cleaning.
2. Install interceptor as close as possible to the fixture(s) being serviced.
3. Insure that you have sufficient clearance for removal of interceptor cover for
cleaning.
4. Take all piping needs into consideration when choosing the interceptor area.
5. Fixtures or drains must be trapped separately, or as otherwise required by local
plumbing code.
6. Connect and seal piping from the sink or other fixture to the inlet connection.
7. Connect and seal piping from the outlet connection to the sanitary drain system.
8. Wastewater flows from the inlet piping into the perforated basket, and exits the
interceptor through the outlet, into the sanitary drain system.
9. Venting is recommended as governed by local code.
10. Outside installation should be done in a pit or below frost line. Allow sufficient
clearance for all piping from fixture area and drainage lines.
