Operation Instructions:
1. Performing self-test before using the test pencil
a)At the OFF position, turn the power switch / sensitivity knob clockwise till a "click" sound is
heard. The test pencil is so turned on and the sensitivity is the highest at this position.
b)Move the probe close to a known AC power circuit ( such as an outlet) . If the built-in beeper
beeps and the LED indicator flashes red, it indicates the test pencil is in good condition and
can be used for voltage testing.
2. Testing AC voltage
a)At the OFF position, turn the power switch / sensitivity knob clockwise till a "click" sound is
heard. The test pencil is so turned on. Rotate the knob to obtain the desired sensitivity for
specific application.
b)Move the probe close to a conductor or outlet under test. When the test pencil detects AC
current, the beeper will beep and the LED indicator will flash red. If the voltage to be tested is
low, set the sensitivity to the highest. If you want to locate the open circuit in a conductor,
decrease the sensitivity properly.
c)Decrease the sensitivity, and subsequently insert the probe into the two slots of the 220 VAC
outlet ( with power) . If the tester beeps when the probe is in either slot, step down the
sensitivity to a lower level. Repeat the above step till the tester only beeps when the probe is in
one exact slot. It is the live slot, and the slot into which the insertion of probe did not trigger
beeping is neutral.
