Cabin Air Filter Removal
The information below explains necessary procedures and tools to remove and install the Cabin Air
Filter (CAF).
NOTE: This CAF and corresponding installation instructions are designed for multiple vehicles
and model years. Although every consideration and resource was used during its creation, the
instructions may not match exactly to your vehicle; however it is DENSO's expectation that these
instructions will be able to direct the installer through the CAF replacement.
CHEVROLET VOLT
1. Turn steering wheel so that vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Turn vehicle ignition switch to OFF.
3. If battery has not been disconnected, do so now or locate and remove fuse(s) supplying
power to Inflatable Restraint Sensing (SIR) and Diagnostic Module (SDM). SDM may have
more than one fused power input.
WARNING: To ensure there is no unwanted SIR deployment, personal injury, or unrequired SIR
system repairs, remove all fuses supplying power to SDM. With all SDM fuses removed and ignition
switch in ON position, AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation and does not
indicate a SIR system fault.
4. Wait two minutes before working on system.
5. Remove passenger side instrument panel
side trim panel (see Fig. 1). Use a flat-
bladed plastic trim tool to aid in removal
of side trim panel from instrument panel
assembly.
6. Pull up at rear edge and pull rear-ward to
remove front side door opening floor carpet
retainer assembly (see Fig. 2).
