PREPARE REEL
Unplug the reel before replacing the light
1.
Cut the existing light off of the reel cord with wire
cutters. Ensure that the cord has three leads.
CAUTION this light must have a green ground
lead for safe operation. If after cutting the wire,
there are only two leads, STOP installing and call

2.
Slip the black strain relief over the cord with the wide end facing the end of the
wires. Slide it a few inches away from the end of the cord.
3.
Slip the black strain relief over the cord with the wide end facing the end of the
wires. Slide it a few inches away from the end of the cord
4.
Using the lineman's pliers, crimp the wire clip very tightly around the jacket 2" from
the blunt end. The clip should be tight enough so that it cannot be moved along
the cord and the wire jacket should look slightly pinched.
5.
Using the wire stripping tool, remove the outer jacket of the wire to expose 1-1/2"
inches of insulated wires. NOTE: Check to ensure 1/2" of the jacket remains in
front of the wire clip.
6.
Strip 3/8" of insulation from each of the end of the three wires.
7.
Twist the wire strands of the black lead and insert into the barrel of a female
terminal. Crimp the terminal at the center of the barrel's insulation firmly using a
crimping tool. Confirm that the lead is tight by pulling gently on the terminal. If the
crimp is tight, repeat for the white lead and green wires. If not, re-crimp until
connection can withstand a light pulling force.
PREPARE LIGHT HEAD
1.
Remove the plastic rivet which holds the clear tube into its seat, pull out tube and
set tube and rivet aside for later assembly.
2.
Remove bulb.
3.
Using the Phillips head screwdriver remove the two screws at the base of the
handle, then remove the two screws at the bottom of the tube seat (opposite end of
the handle). The switch, receptacle and ballast will now be loose.
REASSEMBLY
1.
Connect the black lead to the tab with a black lead
2.
Connect the white lead to the tab with a white lead
3.
Connect the green lead to the tab with a green lead
4.
Lay the cord into the cord entrance cradle with the wire clip on the INSIDE of the
handle.
5.
Keep the receptacle and rocker switch OUTSIDE of the handle (these snap in
later), carefully match the second handle half to the first handle half. The cord
strain relief must be captured entirely by the handle halves without pinching.
Route the black and white lamp leads into the cross-hair slots so they will not be
pinched.
6.
Ensure there are no pinched wires then insert the screws into the handle base and
tube holder cup.
7.
Pull firmly on the cord to ensure that it is secured by the handle halves and does
not move. If it moves, disassemble and return to step 5.
8.
Snap the receptacle and switch into their sockets. Check that they are secured
and can't be pulled out
9.
Install bulb.
10.
Reinsert the tube assembly, lining up the rivet holes with the cup holes. Insert the
female portion of rivet into the tube hole. Press male into female. This should
cause the female to expand slightly on the inside of the light. Pull on tube to
ensure it is locked in place.
11.
Plug in the reel and test the light and receptacle.
If you encounter any problems, unplug the light and call a qualified electrician or 1-800-
233-2155 for assistance.
