Use
(illustration A 1 – A 3)
1. Select a place in the water vessel or the area of water in the terrarium where a water
level of 5 - 30 mm over the water level sensor of the ultrasound generator is guaran-
teed. Spread a "blob" of silicone (enclosed) on the bottom of the protective cave to glue
the cave in the position selected. First clean the area to be glued with a suitable solu-
tion (alcohol, acetone) to remove any grease. Do not press the cave down too firmly, a
silicone layer of about 1 mm should remain between the cave and the floor. This makes
the cave easier to remove if its position is to be changed later. Allow the silicone to har-
den for 24 hours before filling with water.
2. Remove the lid of the protective cave and place the ultrasound generator inside.
Route the cable out through the recess on the rim of the cave and down through the
cable canal outside. Put the lid back onto the cave (only fits in one position).
Camouflage the cable as desired, using suitable decorative material (stones etc.) and
lead the cable out of the terrarium.
3. Fill the water vessel or the area of water in the terrarium with water. Connect the
cables of the ultrasound generator and the transformer and connect the transformer to
the mains power. JBL Foggy will now produce mist. The control light on the ultrasound
generator will light up during operation. If the water level drops below 45 mm, JBL Foggy
automatically switches itself off and the control light goes out. The misting membrane
has a limited service life (approx. 3000 operating hours) and should be replaced from
time to time (see "Service").
Service
The JBL Foggy misting membrane has a limited service life of approx. 3000 operating
hours. This figure may vary depending on the hardness of the water, water pollution etc.
As soon as the formation of mist reduces or stops completely, despite adequate water
levels, the membrane should be changed. This spare part is available from your speci-
alist retailer.
Over the course of time, limescale may form on the misting membrane, resulting in a
decrease in the production of mist. Limescale can be easily removed by soaking the
complete mist generator in JBL BioClean A.
Change the membrane as follows (illus. B):
1. The ultrasound generator must be completely dry before the membrane screw clo-
sure is opened. Carefully turn the threaded ring (2) out anti-clockwise using the special
spanner (1). Carefully remove the brass washer (3) and membrane (4) or any pieces of
these (use a small screwdriver or similar if necessary). Remove the rubber washer (5)
and, if necessary, clean in JBL BioClean A together with the threaded ring and brass
washer .
