preparing for use
2. Place the permanent filter or a 1 0-cup cone-style paper filter into the removable brew
basket (Figure 2).
NOTE: If using paper filters, it is important that the sides of the filter fit flush against
the sides of the brew basket. If filter collapses, dampen the filter before placing it into
the brew basket.
3. Add the desired amount of coffee and gently shake to level the coffee. See the
Suggested Coffee Measurement Chart.
4. Be sure the removable brew basket is properly centred and flush with the top of the
brew chamber before closing the lid.
5. Fill the water tank with cold, fresh water to the desired capacity. For easy and accurate
filling, the water markings on the water tank show the amount of water needed to
make the corresponding desired number of cups (1 cup equals 148 ml/5 ounces). Do
not fill past the bottom of the maximum fill indicator basket.
For your convenience, the water tank can be used in place or removed for easy filling
(Figure 3). Make sure the water tank is securely in place before starting the coffee
maker.
6. Place the empty carafe onto the unit.
NOTE: Make sure the carafe is placed fully on the plate or the water and the
grounds will overflow from the brew basket. An overflow may cause personal injury
or damage to property.
