f For the correct cutting action, swing the line trimmer
from side to side as you walk forward, holding it at an
angle of approx. 30° as you do so.
f Make several passes to cut long grass shorter step by
step from the top (Fig. M).
f Keep the line trimmer away from hard objects in order
to avoid unnecessary line wear.
Note: Periodically clean out the grass between the spool
and the rim of the guard to prevent the tool from vibrating,
ensure the line trimmer is switched off and unplugged.
REMOVING AND REPLACING
The spool and line assembly (Fig. N and Fig.O)
Warning! Before making this change, make sure that
line trimmer is switched OFF and unplugged.
1. Turn your line trimmer upside down.
2. Depress both tabs (19) on both sides of the spool
housing and remove the spool cover (20) from the
spool housing (21).
3. Remove the empty spool (23) from the spool housing (21).
4. Remove any dirt and grass from the spool cover (20)
and spool housing (21).
5. Secure the ends of each line (25) either side into
the notches (24) leaving 10cm of cutting line (25) for
feeding into the two eyelets (22).
6. Insert the rewound spool (23) into the spool housing
(21). Rotate the spool (23) slightly until it is seated.
7. Align the tabs (19) on the spool cover (20) with the cut
outs in the spool housing (21). Then push the spool
cover (20) back into the spool housing (21) until the
clips (19) click into position.
8. Pull each end of the line (25) to release from the
notches (24).
Winding new line onto a spool (Fig. P)
You may wind new cutting line onto an empty spool.
Only use cutting line that is 1.5mm (solid) or 1.6mm
(twisted) in diameter, using different line can result in poor
performance or damage the motor.
1. Remove the empty spool from the line trimmer
2. Remove any remaining cutting line from the spool.
3. Measure no more than 10 metres of new line. Divide the
line evenly so you find the half-way point and cut in half.
4. Place each end of the cutting line through the hole in
the spool (26) to lock it in place.
5. Wind the cutting line (25) onto the spool (23) in the
direction of the arrow (27). Make sure to wind the line
(25) on neatly and in layers. Do not cross the line as
this will stop it from feeding.
6. Complete winding the line and ensure that the line
does not protrude past the end of the spool (23) edge.
7. Secure the ends of each line (25) either side into
the notches (24) leaving 10cm of cutting line (25) for
feeding into the two eyelets (22).
8. Insert the rewound spool (23) into the spool housing
(21). Rotate the spool (23) slightly until it is seated.
9. Align the tabs (19) on the spool cover (20) with the cut
outs in the spool housing (21). Then push the spool
cover (20) back into the spool housing (21) until the
clips (19) click into position.
10. Pull each end of the line (25) to release from the
notches (24).
