READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

For fixtures with emergency battery option:
Follow steps 1 through 8 as indicated on page 1, except that power to the emergency
battery needs to be supplied using an un-switched power source (See Fig. 3).
Power for regular illumination can be either switched or un-switched as needed.
9A. When power is supplied to the battery the red test button will light up
indicating the battery is charging.
10A. Allow the battery to charge for at least 24 hours, then perform a short test by
pushing the test button. The fixture will switch to battery mode and deliver
about half the normal illumination.
11A. After the battery is fully charged (at least 48 hours of continuous power) a full
90 minute test can be performed by cutting power to the fixture.
For fixtures with motion sensor option:
Fixtures with the motion sensor option require up to 2 minutes to warm up and begin
regular operation. This process takes place every time the fixture power is turned ON.
The motion sensor turns the fixture ON/OFF based on occupancy. The time the fixture
remains ON after motion has been detected can be adjusted from 1-20 minutes.
All fixtures with the motion sensor option include also a daylight sensor to prevent the
fixture from turning ON during the day.
Instructions for testing and adjusting the sensor:
Follow steps 1 through 8 as indicated above to install the fixture. The fixture's motion
sensor has a miniature knob (See Fig. 6) to adjust the time the fixture remains ON
after motion has been detected. An initial functional test can be performed to make
sure the motion sensor is working properly as follows:
9B. Disconnect power from the fixture. Always disconnect power
during installation or maintenance.
10B. Open the fixture by loosening the bottom screw –
(See Fig. 1). This separates the front housing from
the back plate.
11B. Turn the motion sensor knob all the way
counter clockwise to reduce the time to
the minimum setting.
12B. Cover the daylight sensor on the top of the
fixture with black electrical tape to block all
light from hitting the sensor.
13B. Close the fixture and apply power. The fixture will
turn ON. Move away from the fixture and allow the motion
sensor to warm up for about 2 minutes.
14B. After a couple of minutes the fixture will turn OFF . Now step into the
sensor's coverage area (See Fig. 7) and walk around. The fixture should
turn ON as soon as it detects motion inside the coverage area.
15B. Once the sensor operation has been confirmed, the time the fixture
stays ON can be extended. Follow steps 9B and 10B above, then adjust
the motion sensor knob to increase the time as desired.
16B. Close the fixture and return power.
17B. Once satisfied with the timing on the fixture remove the black electrical
tape from the daylight sensor. This will prevent the fixture from turning
ON during the day.

NOTE: It is important to understand that the sensitivity of the motion
sensor varies with the distance from the sensor and the type of motion that
the sensor detects. In general, the highest sensitivity and largest detection
area are achieved when movement occurs parallel to the sensor. When an
object moves directly towards the fixture the sensor is at it least sensitive
state (See Fig. 7). For objects moving directly towards or away from
the fixture, a reduction of at least half the detection distance is possible.
The sensor in this fixture works by detecting differences of temperature
between the moving object and the background. If the moving object is at
exactly the same temperature as the background, the sensor will have trouble
detecting the movement. As a reference, the normal body temperature of
a person is 98.5°F degrees (37°C). So on nights where the temperature
outside is about 98°F-99°F degrees, the ability of the sensor to detect
movements of people will be reduced.
