4. Install the center mulch baffle (ref. part #4) using four of the self
tapping hex screws (ref. part #5) to secure it. See Figure 1-4.
NOTE: Make sure the tabs on the center mulch baffle are oriented
as shown in Figure 1-4.
5. Install the left bracket using the other four self tapping hex
screws (ref. part #5) to secure it. See Figure 1-5.
NOTE: Make sure the tabs on the left mulch baffle are oriented as
shown in Figure 1-5.
NOTE: LH mulch bracket (ref. part #2) and the center mulch baffle (ref.
part #4) look similar. When installing brackets or baffles make sure they
are correctly lined up and in the proper place.

Blade Installation

WARNING:
Cutting blades are sharp. Always protect hands
by wearing heavy leather work gloves to grasp blades.
1. Place a block of wood between the deck housing baffle and each
cutting blade to keep the blades from tuning during removal. Use
a wrench to remove the hex flange nut that secures each blade
to its spindle assembly by turning it counterclockwise against the
block. See Figure 1-6.
NOTE: The hex flange nuts have a right-handed (normal) thread
pattern. Do NOT attempt to force the nuts in the opposite
direction. Doing so may damage the nut and/or spindle threads.
2. Replace the blades previously removed with the 21" mulch blades
supplied with this kit (ref. part #1). Make sure the blades are
properly oriented with the part number on the bottom side, and
torque to 70 FT-LBS. minimum, 90 FT-LBS. maximum. See Figure
1-7.
