5. Point the sand jet towards the workpiece. Do not allow it to blast objects other than those to
be treated.
6. When work is completed, release the pedal. Keep the exhauster working for a few seconds to
remove all dust particles from inside the booth, then stop it.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

To ensure a long service life for the unit, proceed as follows:
• Always use high-quality grinding medium. Talleres Mestraitua, S.L. recommends MESTRA
medium. The gun on the micro-blasting module is factory supplied with a nozzle diameter of
1.25 mm and can handle grinding medium up to 250 microns in diameter.
• Use dry piston air compressors whenever possible. The MESTRA R -080340 and R-080350
compressors are suitable for this task. Oil particles in the blowi ng air can cause lumps of sand
which will clog the gun nozzles.
• Do not fill the micro-blasting module vessel with the grinding medium from the booth floor:
large diameter particles (impurities appearing during workpiece blasting) may clog the nozzle
of the gun.
• For general cleaning of the unit, use a cloth moistened in soapy water.
If the gun becomes clogged, dismount the nozzle-holder and remove the nozzle from inside.
Unclog the nozzle with a pin or fine wire and re-mount it on the gun.
The micro-blasting gun is factory supplied with a 1.25 mm diameter nozzle. However, 1 mm and
0.75 mm nozzles can also be fitted: consult your MESTRA dealer. The following table gives
grinding medium particle diameters for the different nozzle diameters.

PRECAUTIONS
♦ Never exceed a pressure of 5 bars.
♦ Always work with a micro-blasting booth, and use protective gauntlets, goggles and a face-
mask.
♦ Use an exhauster while micro-blasting.
♦ Do not allow children or unskilled personnel to handle the unit.
♦ Use only guaranteed high-quality grinding media (we recommend MESTRA media). Grinding
media can be toxic if dust is inhaled.
♦ Ensure that the compressed air system used to power the unit is properly protected by at least
one pneumatic discharge valve.
♦ If leaks are detected in the compressed air system, consult your installer immediately.
♦ After filling the module's tank with grinding medium, ensure that it is tightly sealed.
