Thank you for purchasing the sera reptil thermo comfort mat
S or M.
Reptiles are cold-blooded animals. Imitating the temperature
conditions of the natural biotopes is particularly important for
keeping the animals according to their requirements, since the
natural behavior of the terrarium inhabitants can only be ob-
served under appropriate conditions. The sera heating mats
emit the heat into the environment through a large area, without
developing high temperatures. This ensures there is no big heat
gradient within the terrarium. Depending on the requirements of
the animals kept, it is possible to combine the sera heating
mats with further heating systems.

• Do not operate the sera heating mats under water.
• Protect the heating area against pointed items.
• In case a heating mat is damaged, i.e. it has holes or is
ripped, it must immediately be disconnected from the mains
supply and put out of operation
• The heating mats must not be folded.
• No pieces must be cut out by means of scissors or similar
tools, not even at the edge.
• The laminated layers must not be separated from each other.
application and application range
Even, large-area heating is achieved if installed underneath the
bottom ground. The sera heating mats can be laid or attached
underneath the terrarium in case of terrariums with a frame, pro-
vided the aeration gap underneath the terrarium is sufficiently
large.
Due to the adhesive liner you can attach the heating mats to the
side panes of the terrarium. This allows for a large-area heating
also in case of animals that should not receive heat from under-
neath, e.g. tortoises. If you insulate the sera heating mat on one
side for improving heat emission to the other direction, make
sure no insulating layers are applied on the other side.
Generally, only about 1/3 of the terrarium bottom should be
heated, as to allow the animals to move to cooler spots as well.

Clean the area to which the mat is to be attached on the outside
of the terrarium. Pull the protection liner (2.3) off the adhesive
surface. Attach the edge of the heating mat and press the heat-
ing mat onto the glass without any air bubbles. The adhesive
liner attaches very firmly and can be removed only with difficul-
ties.
Installation underneath the terrarium bottom (fig. 3.2)
You can attach the heating mats underneath the terrarium from
the outside as to avoid accumulating heat (3.2). Your terrarium
must not sit directly on the bottom/cabinet for this purpose. If
the terrarium has direct contact, place it on the included dis-
tance pieces (1.3). To do so, pull the protecting liner off the ad-
hesive side and attach to the corners of the bottom side of the
terrarium (3.3). Do not attach the distance pieces to the heating
mat!
Cleaning
Disconnect the sera heating mat from the mains supply and
wipe it with a soft cloth and neutral detergent. Do not use any
abrasive detergents. Do not use any solvents. Make sure no
water gets near the electric connections and the cable. Allow
the heating mat to become entirely dry before plugging it in
again.
Maintenance
No parts of the sera reptil thermo comfort mat can be re-
placed or exchanged. The heating mats must be put out of op-
eration in case the heating area or the cable is damaged.
