Voice Transmission System

Please read these operating instructions care-
fully prior to operation and keep them for later
reference.
1 Applications
In combination with a receiver or several re-
ceivers ATS-42R, the transmitter ATS-42T pro-
vides a mobile wireless system for transmitting
spoken language, e. g. for guided tours, lectures
in different languages or wireless command
transmission. For wireless transmission, 40 chan-
nels are available in the frequency range
863 – 865 MHz; up to twelve of these channels
may be used at the same time without mutual
interference. The transmission range depends
on local conditions and may reach 50 m as a
maximum.
2 Important Notes
The units correspond to all relevant directives of
the EU and are therefore marked with
G
The units are suitable for indoor use only. Pro-
tect them against dripping water and splash
water, high air humidity and heat (admissible
ambient temperature: 0 – 40 °C).
G
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never
use water or chemicals.
G
No guarantee claims for the units and no lia-
bility for any resulting personal damage or ma-
terial damage will be accepted if the units are
used for other purposes than originally in-
tended, if they are not correctly connected or
operated, or if they are not repaired in an ex-
pert way.
If the units are to be put out of opera-
tion definitively, take them to a local re-
cycling plant for a disposal which is not
harmful to the environment.

2.1 Conformity and approval

Herewith, MONACOR INTERNATIONAL declare
that the transmitter ATS-42T is in accordance
with the basic requirements and the other rele-
vant regulations of the directive 1999 / 5 / EC. The
declaration of conformity is available on request
from MONACOR INTERNATIONAL. The trans-
mitter is licence-free and generally approved for
operation in EU and EFTA countries.

3 Setting into Operation

3.1 Inserting / Replacing the batteries

To insert or replace the batteries, remove the
cover of the battery compartment on the rear
side of the unit. Insert two batteries of size AA as
indicated in the compartment, then replace the
cover.
If the unit is not in use for a longer period of
time, remove the batteries to prevent damage to
the unit due to battery leakage.
Used batteries and defective recharge-
able batteries must not be placed in the
household waste. To protect the envi-
ronment, always take them to a special
waste disposal, e. g. collection con-
tainer at your retailer.

3.2 Recharging the batteries

Instead of batteries, rechargeable batteries can
be used for the transmitter and the receiver. To
recharge the batteries, the chargers TXA-12C,
.
TXA-36C and TXA-800PS are available from the
product range of MONACOR. Put the receiver
and the transmitter into the chargers, including
the batteries inserted.
CAUTION! If you use non-rechargeable batter-
ies for the units, never put them in the charger. If
you try to recharge non-rechargeable batteries,
they may leak or even explode.
3.3 Connecting the microphone
and the earphone
1) Connect the microphone provided to the jack
(3) of the transmitter (grey housing) and use
the clip to fasten it to your clothes (e. g. tie,
lapel).
2) Connect the earphone provided to the jack
(3) of the receiver (black housing) and fas-
ten it to your ear.
4 Operation
1) First switch on the receiver only: Keep the but-
ton
(7) pressed until the display (5) shows
"On".
2) Set a free transmission channel on the re-
ceiver with the button
Note: Five seconds after switching on and five sec-
onds after pressing a button, the buttons will be
locked automatically: The symbol appears on the
display. To unlock, keep both buttons pressed until
the symbol
disappears.
The LED RX (2) must not light up. If it lights
up, interference or signals from other trans-
mitters are received. In this case, use a differ-
ent channel.

3) Switch on the transmitter; the LED TX (2)
lights up. Set the transmitter to the transmis-
sion channel of the receiver. Once a signal is
received, the LED RX will light up.
Note: If no signal is received for 20 minutes (in this
case, the LED RX will not light up), the receiver will
be switched off automatically to save the batteries.
4) Use the control
the desired volume for the earphone and the
control
for the microphone so that the microphone
signal is neither distorted (in this case reduce
the volume) nor noisy (in this case increase
the volume).
Caution! Never adjust the earphone to a very
high volume. Permanent high volumes may
damage your hearing!
5) If several ATS-42 systems are used at the
same time for transmitting different kinds of in-
formation or different languages, set a differ-
ent transmission channel for each separate
system. You will be able to make twelve voice
transmissions at the same time if you set the
following channels:
1, 2, 13, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 24, 28, 39, 40.
6) To switch off the units, keep the button
of each unit pressed until the display shows
"OF".
