B. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS. This manual contains important safety, installation and
maintenance information for your panel.
C. CAUTION: To reduce risk of spark, electrical shock, or personal injury, cover the SolarStream
before making any connections to the vehicle battery.
D.
IMPORTANT: Before making electrical connections in a vehicle, keep in mind that a shorted auto
battery can easily start a fire. Make all connections with insulated lugs or other connectors
intended for such use.
Before mounting the Streamlight
NOTE: Do not remove the adhesive backing until you have read the entire manual.
SELECT PANEL LOCATION
The panel should be placed on the roof of the vehicle to avoid possible damage. Determine how the
wire will be routed thru the vehicle. For new vehicle installations, plan on routing the wire through the
roof light bar hole, down the A-pillar closest to the vehicle battery and through the firewall. For retrofit
vehicle installations, consider lifting the weatherstripping from the rear door opening to route the wire to
the inside of the vehicle and through the firewall. Since every vehicle type is different, your installation
may vary.
While the panel is placed but before permanent installation, use a DMM (volt meter) to verify the panel
is operating properly by measuring open circuit voltage of the panel. The panel output without a load
applied should be 15 to 22 volts depending on ambient lighting conditions.
PREPARING VEHICLE SURFACE
Prepare the vehicle surface
automobile wax to the area. This will assist in panel removal and reduce chances of damage to the
painted surface.
INSTALLING THE PANEL
We recommend two people to install the panel. Position the
one person is holding the panel in place, lift the end with the wire and remove the adhesive backing,
working toward the center of the panel. Verify the backing is completely removed around the wire exit
area to provide a complete perimeter seal. Roll the backing under the panel and carefully place the
wire end of the panel onto the vehicle surface. With one person lifting the other end of the panel, slowly
remove the backing and further secure the panel onto the surface. Press the center of the panel first
and work to the sides to avoid air pockets under the panel. Continue until all the backing is removed
and the panel is secured to the surface. It is important the panel perimeter be secured to the mounting
surface to avoid premature lifting of the panel and voiding the warranty.
