1. IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1.1 SAVE THESE IMPORTANT SAFETY
AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS.
WARNING! RISK OF EXPLOSION.
1.2 BATTERIES CONTAIN ACID AND
PRODUCE EXPLOSIVE GASES. SHIELD
EYES AND FACE FROM BATTERIES AT
ALL TIMES. WORKING IN THE VICINITY
OF A LEAD-ACID BATTERY CAN BE
DANGEROUS. BATTERIES GENERATE
EXPLOSIVE GASES DURING NORMAL
BATTERY OPERATION. THESE
INSTRUCTIONS ARE DESIGNED TO
MINIMIZE THE EXPLOSION HAZARD.
1.3 Keep sparks, flames and cigarettes away
from the battery at all times.
1.4 Always wear complete eye protection and
protective clothing. Avoid touching eyes
2. BATTERY REQUIREMENTS
2.1 The use of standard automotive batteries
is not recommended, as they are not
designed for deep discharges and will fail
quickly.
3. CONNECTING THE BATTERY
3.1 Position the second battery in close
proximity to the back of the Storm unit.
3.2 Before plugging the connector end of the
accessory battery cable into the Storm
unit, connect the battery terminals first.
3.3 Attach the lead with the red tubing on
the ring terminal to the positive post of
the battery and secure, then connect the
negative lead with the black tubing around
its ring connector to the negative post of
the battery and secure (Figure A).
NOTE: The Schumacher battery uses screws
to connect the ring terminals to the battery;
a different marine battery may have different
connections. The positive connection is
usually a 3/8˝ threaded stud, while the
negative terminal is a 5/16˝ threaded stud.
Make sure to correctly connect the red
terminal to the battery positive and the black
terminal to the battery negative.

while working near battery. If battery acid
contacts skin or clothing, wash immediately
with soap and water. If acid enters eye,
immediately flood eye with running cold
water for a minimum of 10 minutes and get
medical attention immediately.
1.5 Be extra cautious to reduce risk of
dropping a metal tool onto battery. It is
capable of producing a spark or short-
circuiting the battery or other electrical
part and causing an explosion.
1.6 When charging or using a battery in an
enclosed space, always provide adequate
ventilation.
1.7 WARNING: This product contains one
or more chemicals known to the State
of California to cause cancer and birth
defects or other reproductive harm.
2.2 The secondary battery attached to the
Storm should be an AGM-type deep
cycle (marine) battery with posts to
accept ring terminals. We recommend the

3.4 After the cable is connected to the battery,
it can be plugged into the receptacle on the
back of the Storm unit. There is only one
way for the accessory battery cable to plug
into the Storm unit. To avoid a small spark,
line up the connectors, and with one swift
push, mate the two together (Figure B).
3.5 For protection, the secondary battery
cable has a replaceable fuse in line with
the battery (Figure C). [Replacement fuse
