Care and Maintenance
Care
The key to the longevity of your new furniture is maintenance. Regular cleaning is essential, depending
on factors such as the location the furniture is situated, sun, salt, dust, moisture and pollution. These fac-
tors can degrade the appearance of your furniture. Please follow the instructions below to maintain the
appearance and extend the lifespan of your furniture.
Storage is recommended during winter or wet seasons. Furniture should be stored in a cool, well-ventilat-
ed area to help prevent excessive shrinking/expansion of the timber due to humidity.
To reduce the maintenance required, a furniture cover is recommended.
OILING
NOTE: Your furniture has already been factory treated with an oil preservative.
However, after assembly of your furniture you MUST complete an initial light oiling.
Immediate Oiling of your furniture is crucial to the longevity of your furniture.
Maintenance
STEP 1. After unpacking/assembly of the furniture thoroughly wipe clean/brush to remove any dust particles.
STEP 2. Apply the specialised timber furniture oil lightly using a rag or soft bristled brush. Wipe off any excess
oil and allow to dry for (4) four hours. After this time wipe the furniture again with a clean rag to remove any
excess oil that may not have penetrated the timber. Repeat wiping off excess oil if necessary.
Your furniture is now protected, however, repeat applications of the timber oil may be
required. Before re-oiling check your furniture for any residue build up. If this occurs a light sanding may be
required prior to oiling.
Note: The frequency of oiling will vary according to the climatic conditions in your area and the direct expo-
sure to the elements your furniture is subjected to. We recommend the timber needs to be oiled a minimum
of (3) three times per year.
CLEANING
To clean the furniture frames, simply wash with soapy water using a soft cloth or soft bristled brush. Rinse
off the furniture with clean water and wipe dry with a soft, clean cloth. The frequency of required cleaning
will vary, however the rule of thumb is once a month for externally exposed furniture and 2-3 times a year for
fully protected furniture.
CUSHION CARE – IF SUPPLIED
Please keep cushions dry, vacuum regularly and avoid leaving them in direct sunlight for long periods of
time. For spot cleaning, use a mild soapy water solution with a soft cloth sponge on effected area. Once
clean, rinse the cushion with fresh water and pat dry with a soft cloth. Ensure to allow the cushion filling to
dry out before use. Do not use solvents, do not machine wash. For stubborn stains, commercial fabric clean-
ers are available. Read the instructions of these products carefully before using on your cushions. Steam
cleaners may be used. Ensure the cushion cover remains on the filling insert and use a gentle setting on the
appliance.
