Hold the planer securely, using both hands, and rest the front edge of the
sole plate (10) on the edge of the work piece.
Check that the cutter is not in contact with the work piece, or any
other object.
Start the machine by holding down the safety button (2), and squeezing
the on/off switch (3), the machine will start (To stop the machine, release
the on/off switch).
Allow the motor to reach full speed, and push the planer forwards across
the work piece.
Maintain a steady movement, and ensure that the sole plate is kept
pressed against the work piece.
Allow the cutter to move out of the end of the material, and release the
on/off switch.
Do not place the machine down until the motor/cutter has
stopped completely.
If a deep cut is required, repeat the above steps.
Using the guide fence
To work parallel to an edge, the guide fence (5) should be used.
The guide fence attaches to the body of the planer using the guide fence
attachment screw (6). Ensure that the guide fence is attached securely.
The position of the guide fence can be adjusted to suit different tasks.
To follow an edge, simply make a cut, whilst keeping the vertical foot of
the guide fence pressed against the vertical edge to be followed.
Using the rebate guide
To cut a rebate, the rebate guide should be used.
The rebate guide attaches to the body of the planer in the same
way as the guide fence.
The position of the rebate guide can be adjusted to suit different tasks.
To cut a rebate, simply ensure that the rebate guide is kept pressed
against the work.
Chamfering
The sole plate (10) features chamfer grooves (9) to allow you to cut a
45˚ chamfer on the edge of a work piece. Different depths of groove are
provided to enable wide, and narrow, chamfers to be cut.
To cut a chamfer, locate the edge to be cut in the appropriate groove in
the sole plate. Cut as usual, but hold the planer at 45˚.

Maintenance and Disposal

Cleaning
Disconnect the machine from the mains supply before cleaning.
Keep your machine clean. Always clean dust/particles away, and never
allow ventilation holes to become blocked. Use a soft brush, or dry cloth
to clean the machine, if available blow through the ventilation holes with
clean, dry, compressed air.
Replacement brushes
Over time, the carbon brushes in the motor will wear away. This wear
process will be accelerated if the machine is used in dusty environments,
or if the machine is overloaded.
If the brushes have become excessively worn; motor performance may
decrease, the machine may fail to start, or excessive sparking may
be observed.
If you suspect that the brushes may be worn, they can be replaced.
Ensure that the machine is disconnected from the power supply, and
as been allowed to cool. Unscrew the brush covers, and withdraw the
old brushes. Insert new brushes, and replace brush covers. Allow the
machine to run free for 1-2 minutes to bed the new brushes in.
Disposal
Do not dispose of power tools, or other waste electrical and electronic
equipment (WEEE), with household waste.
Contact your local waste disposal authority for information on the proper
way to dispose of power tools.
