PARTS ENCLOSED:
Each FD Box has unthreaded 1" trade size conduit openings for PVC rigid
conduit. They include a 1" rigid conduit plug for each conduit opening and
a set of rigid conduit reducers for each gang. Each set of reducers contains
two 1" x 3/4" reducers and two 3/4" x 1/2" reducers.
Cat No. FDBX1 – 1-gang extra deep box includes two conduit plugs, one
set of reducers and one pre-assembled grounding plate
with ground wire. Volume 26.0 in².
Cat No. FDBX2 2-gang extra deep box includes four conduit plugs, two
sets of reducers and two pre-assembled grounding
plates with ground wires. Volume 67.3 in².
Cat No. FDBX3 – 3-gang extra deep box includes six conduit plugs, three
sets of reducers and three pre-assembled grounding
plates with ground wires. Volume 109.1 in².
TO INSTALL BOX
WARNING:
TO AVOID FIRE, SHOCK, OR DEATH; TURN OFF POWER AT CIRCUIT BREAKER OR FUSE AND TEST THAT THE POWER IS OFF
BEFORE WIRING!
1. Select 1, 2, or 3-gang box based on number of conductors and required box volume per NEC Article 314 (Box volumes listed above).
2. Determine placement of box and mount on a flat, smooth surface using mounting holes on flanges of box. Use appropriate mounting screws for your
installation. Recommended screw size #8, DO NOT use larger. Hand tighten screws on diagonal, alternating sides. DO NOT drill holes in box as
watertight ratings will be compromised.
3. Plug any unused conduit openings with enclosed conduit plugs using appropriate PVC glue (not supplied).
4. Determine conduit size to be used. Box is supplied with pre-formed 1" openings. To use 3/4" reducers, separate as needed from linked set and insert into
opening using PVC glue around the exterior of the reducer. If the 1/2" reducer is required, it must be inserted into the 3/4" reducer with PVC glue.
5. Secure conduit(s) to box with PVC glue.
6. Pull wires from conduit into box. NOTE: The wires must be long enough to project out of the intended box opening(s) at least 6". Trim wires as required.
7. Box is now ready for device and cover installation.
