3. Installation
3.1 Electrical Connection
The electrical connection should be carried out in ac-
cordance with local regulations.
The operating voltage and frequency are marked on
the nameplate. Please make sure that the motor is
suitable for the electricity supply on which it will be
used.
The pump must be connected to an ELCB-
protected socket outlet with earth connec-
tion (tripping current < 30 mA).
The pump incorporates a thermal overload switch
which automatically switches off the motor in case of
overloading, e.g. blocking of the impeller.
Switch off the electricity supply to the
pump before the fault is corrected, as the
pump will restart automatically after cool-
ing.
3.2 Starting
Fit the discharge pipe/hose to the pump discharge
socket by means of a hose union. A hose, which can
pass the thread of the discharge socket, can be fitted
to the smooth face below the thread by means of a
clamp.
If the pump is to be installed in a permanent installa-
tion, a hose of minimum 25 cm must be fitted to the
pump. The hose is then connected to the installation.
A hose union is required if the thread is used.
3.3 Pump Location
The pump can be used in vertical, horizontal or tilted
position with the discharge port as the highest point
of the pump, see fig. 2.

Note: Do not lower or lift the pump by means of the
electric cables.
Position the pump on a solid base, e.g. a brick or a
plate, so that it is clear of sludge, mud, etc. The
pump must not hang from the discharge pipe/hose.
Before starting, the pump must be submerged as
shown in fig. 2.
3.4 Adjustment of Level Switch
On the A models, the difference in level between
start and stop can be varied by adjusting the free ca-
ble of the level switch, within the range from 70 to
150 mm, see fig. 3.

Make sure that the level switch is left to move freely.
4. Operation and Maintenance
4.1 Flat Suction
When the strainer is removed, see fig. 4, the pump is
capable of sucking down to a depth of water of
3 mm. To enable flat suction, there must be a depth
of water of minimum 5 cm when the pump is started.

Note: During flat suction, the pump should be super-
vised, as it is unprotected, e.g. from solid particles.
Refit the strainer after flat suction.
