1. General safety instructions
The ROCOOL 600 must be used only by expert personnel certified according to country-specific
standards.
Before first use, read this operating manual thoroughly to prevent improper use.
The ROCOOL 600 must be used only with the refrigerants indicated below. Other gases or fluids
must never be used with the ROCOOL 600.
Do not use or store the unit in environments that are not within the working temperature range.
Protect the ROCOOL 600 from rain or other external liquids.
Never exceed the manifold's maximum pressure of 60 bar. This could irreparably damage the
sensors. There is also a danger of the sight glass breaking, which may injure the user.
During all work, make sure to wear personal protection gear that includes safety gloves and safety
glasses.
Avoid dropping the ROCOOL 600 from big heights
Do not overtighten the valves. This permanently reduces the valves' seal.
Connect only original Rothenberger accessories (external vacuum probe, Red Box) to the ROCOOL
600.
2. Use of the vacuum probe
2.1 Preparation
1. Press Start (1) for 3 seconds to turn on the ROCOOL 600.
2. Use a charging hose to connect the system's low-pressure port to the low-pressure port (14) of
the ROCOOL 600. In the same way, if possible, connect the high-pressure sides with a charging
hose.
3. At the middle T connector (16) you can connect the vacuum pump and the refrigerant tank (15).
So as not to create any overpressure on the vacuum pump during filling, Rothenberger recom-
mends using charging hoses with shut-off valves.
2.2 Connecting the vacuum probe
1. Connect the plug of the vacuum probe to the socket (10) and the ¼" SAE F connector to the
connector at the manifold body (9) or at the refrigeration system using a T-connector The
vacuum measurement will be more precise the closer the vacuum probe is connected to the
refrigeration system.
2. Press Mode (5) to change into the vacuum mode.
3. In vacuum mode you can adjust the vacuum unit using the Set button (4).
4. Switch on the vacuum pump and open the route from the vacuum pump to the system to start
the evacuation.
5. The vacuum measurement will start at a level of 5000 micron and will change in steps of 250
micron.
6. As soon as an adequate vacuum level of 500 micron is reached the green LED will blink.
7. Shut off the vacuum pump when you are sure that all remaining humidity in the system is
evacuated.
8. When the vacuum level is kept at vacuum level of below 500 micron for 30 minutes the LED
lights permanently.
9. Disconnect the vacuum probe from the manifold respectively the system before the filling
process to avoid pressure being applied to the vacuum probe.
3. Documentation
For documentation please refer to the instruction manual of the Red Box.
