System II Hex Cassette

A small device intended to be used in the laboratory to
support / contain clinical tissue specimens (e.g., biopsy
samples) to facilitate specimen processing [e.g., fixation
(encapsulation in paraffin wax), dehydration, infiltration]
in preparation for subsequent cytological or histological
examination, and storage. It is in the form of a synthetic
polymer container, with or without a lid, with drainage
holes to maximize fluid exposure during tissue submersion
in a parent device into which the container is loaded. This
is a single-use device.
For laboratory use.
Store in a dry place. Don't store in direct sunlight.
This product does not expire under normal environmental
conditions.
Marking capabilities: Epredia Printmate, Leica IPC, Sakura
Autowrite, CellMark pens, 2B pencils.
Processing Limitations: Suitable for high temperature processing.
Suitable for microwave processing.
Instructions For Use
1. Insert the hopper tube into the Epredia PrintMate cassette
printer.
1. Insert the thread into the Leica IPC cassette printer. Holding the
top cassette pull the thread up to release.
1. Insert cassettes manually into printer loading system.
2. Place tissue into the System II Cassette. We recommend that
only one sample grossed between 2mm and 4.5mm thick is
placed in the cassette.
3. Using either a plastic or metal lid, attach the lid. Close the lid
and place the cassette in a fixative ensuring it is fully submerged.
NOTE: Compatible lids are CellPath plastic System II Hex Cassette
Lids [EAE-0102-03A] or CellPath Stainless Steel Lids [EAW-0114-
08A].
4. Process the cassette through solvents according to your usual
protocol until the specimens are ready for embedding. If you are
using any unusual reagents, we suggest that you carry out
preliminary chemical compatibility tests before using System II
Cassette to contain tissue samples.
4. Carefully open the cassette.
5. Embed, cool and section as per your usual protocol.
6. Dispose of the lid in accordance with laboratory guidelines.
DO NOT REUSE THIS PRODUCT.
