FITTING INSTRUCTIONS
For best therapeutic results considering different pathol-
ogies and to extend the useful life of the product, it is es-
sential to choose the correct size for each patient or user.
Excessive compression may be intolerable; adjusting the
compression to be firm yet comfortable is recommended.
If the product must be adapted, any such adjustments
must be done by an orthopaedic specialist or healthcare
professional legally certified to do so who must make sure
the end user or person responsible for fitting the product
properly understands how it works and should be used.
When fitting the product, you must adhere to the
following instructions:
A Adapting the walker to the patient:
Placing the walker in a sitting position and putting a sock
(cotton, if possible) on the patient's leg and foot is rec-
ommended.
1-Separate the rigid structure from the wrap-around
sleeve. Place the wrap-around sleeve snug against the
patient's foot and leg and tighten it as much as possible
using the quick-close system. Position the protective toe
pad. If necessary, place the protective pads in sensitive
areas such as the instep or malleoli.
2-Place the leg over the brace and make sure the foot is in
direct contact with the base and back and that the rigid
structure is centred with the leg and ankle load line.
For Ref.: EST-083, EST-086, EST-087 and EST-088:
3-If necessary, shape the splints for appropriate anatom-
ic adaptation. Remove the protective plastic from the
mediolateral splints to secure them to the wrap-around
sleeve. For Ref. EST-087, secure the tibia protector plate
in the front.
4-Close and adjust the brace with quick-close straps in the
foot area.
5-Close the quick-close straps on the leg. For Ref. EST-083
and EST-086, use the straps for the tibia and calf pro-
tector plates.
6-Check for a correct fit. The product must be firmly ad-
justed yet comfortable.
For Ref.: EST-089 and EST-092:
3-Secure the tibia protector plate to the front.
4-Close and adjust the brace with quick-close straps in the
foot area.
5-Close the quick-close straps on the leg.
6-Check for a correct fit. The product must be firmly ad-
justed yet comfortable.
B Flexion-extension control adjustment (EST-083 and
EST-086):
1-Slide and open the cover to expose the pins.
2-Release the pins, select the desired position and reinsert
the pins. If necessary, first loosen the locking screw to
adjust the flexion-extension.
3-Close the cover by sliding the protective part. To lock the
walker boot at a fixed angle of 90º, position both pins
at 0º. When you wish to lock it in a fixed position at 0º,
7,5º, 15º or 22.5º plantar or dorsiflexion, tighten the
Allen head screws on both joints.
C Using the inflation pump (EST-083, EST-089 and EST-
092):
1-To inflate, turn the valve towards INFLATE (clockwise).
The valve must be really tight so no air is lost.
2-Press the orange circular part several times until you get
the desired pressure.
3-Check for a correct fit. The product must be firmly ad-
justed yet comfortable.
4-To release the air from the bag, turn the valve towards
DEFLATE (counter-clockwise) until comfortable.
p
