Starter Sentry Installation Instructions
1.
Locate the relay panel and remove the cover. See enclosed listing to find the
location of your relay panel or consult your vehicle owner's manual for the exact
location.
Note: Many vehicles have a fuse panel that is separate from the relay panel. If you
open the panel cover (Photo A ) and all you see is something that looks like Photo
B, then you have opened the FUSE panel cover by mistake. Replace the fuse panel
cover and look for the RELAY panel (Photo C).

Locate and remove the existing relay. The inside cover of the relay panel
(Photo D ) should show the specific location of the relay you need to replace. The
existing relay will be a dark grey or black plastic cube that is similar in shape and
size to the Starter Sentry. The pattern of the pins on the existing relay also should
match the pins on the Starter Sentry relay.

Insert the Starter Sentry into the relay socket.

Before pressing any buttons on the key fob, try starting the vehicle. The vehicle
should not start or may start for a minute if your vehicle is using the fuel pump
Electronic Fuel Injection relay. If the vehicle does start and continue running, you
have replaced the wrong relay. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the correct relay is
replaced and the vehicle does not start. Once the vehicle does not start or may
run for a minute as described above, proceed to step 5.

Press the button on the key fob once. The LED should light, and the vehicle should
now start.
6.
To activate the proximity function on the key fob, press button on the remote and
hold for 3 seconds. The LED will go out and then flash 5 times. The system will
now automatically disarm whenever you approach the vehicle. You will no longer
need to press the button on the key fob to disarm the system. Please Note: In
both remote modes there will be a 45 second delay before the system
automatically arms.
Note: To switch back to push button mode, press the button on the key fob for 3
seconds until the LED goes out, then press the button on the key fob twice. The
LED will flash 3 times. You must now press the button on the key fob each time
before starting the vehicle.
Master Lock recommends placing the original vehicle relay in a secure area
inside the vehicle that can be accessed if necessary (i.e., remote is lost or
damaged).
