Operating instructions
Path light with movement detector Typ 680344
Description:
The GreenCraft light is fitted with a movement detector, an electronic on/off switch that
recognises movements of heat within its field of surveillance with the aid of passive infra-red
technology. If it recognises a moving heat source, such as a person walking along, the
movement detector switches the integrated light on. If the source of heat stops, the light
remains on. If the person leaves the field of surveillance, or keeps quite still within it, the
light switches off after a pre-set time-delay.To prevent the light from being switched on
uselessly during daylight the brightness level above which moving heat sources are not
registered can be infinitely varied between full daylight and full darkness by means of a
brightness adjustment. The maximum range of surveillance is 10 metres and its width is an
arc of 110° (see section on "Field of surveillance").
Important points regarding the field of surveillance:
The REV GreenCraft path light and movement detector must be able to "see" the entire
planned field of surveillance with the rays of the movement detector (see explanations on
field of surveillance).
There must be no objects in the way of the field of surveillance because infra-red rays
cannot penetrate solid objects.
The movement detector should be as well protected as possible from rain and strong
winds and from direct sunlight. There should be no electric lights within a metre of it
because their heat output could cause it to stay permanently switched on. For the same
reason no spotlight should point straight at the sensor.
It field of surveillance should be kept as small as possible because a large field increases
the probability of its switching on at the wrong time. The field can be narrowed down with
the aid of opaque material such as adhesive tape covering part of the lens.
The field of surveillance should stretch out across, not along, the direction in which people
walk as this ensures that they pass through as many rays as possible (see Figs. L and M
below).

Instructions on settings:
After the contact-breaker has been switched on the movement detector needs about one
minute in order to stabilise. This is the length of time after it has been switched on until it
can start to detect a moving heat source, and during which the device may switch on and
off once or twice of its own accord.
In order to check whether the unit is registering moving heat source the following test can
be carried out: turn both controls as far as they will go in the opposite direction from the
arrows and then walk in front of it. This must cause the unit to switch on and off.
The SETTINGS for time and brightness are made at the two control knobs underneath the
lens of the movement detector. They are infinitely variable and can be changed any
required number of times.

Trouble-shooting:
If your system is not working properly, please check the following points:
Movement detector does not switch on
Manual switch is off or contact-breaker open.
Response brightness is set at dark but
surroundings are bright
Electrical connection is broken
Field of surveillance is not set correctly
it. The function can also be tested by

The BRIGHTNESS up to which point the movement detector
reacts can be set between 5 lux (dark) and about 1,000 lux
(bright). If the sun shines directly onto the movement detector
the brightness will be above the top limit and it will not react any
more even if it is set at 1,000 lux. If this control is set at 5 lux the
light will only switch on in pitch darkness, and if it is set at 1,000
lux it will remain on all day.
The LENGTH OF TIME for which the light remains on after it has
been triggered can be set anywhere in the range from about 2
seconds to about 20 minutes and can be infinitely varied.
