of insulation off the ends of each speaker cable to expose the two conductors and
tightly twist the wire strands. Maintain consistency of the + (red) and – (black) con-
nections by using the markings on the wire.
IMPORTANT: Typically, one side of the wire is smooth. Connect this side to the –
(black) connection. The other side has a rib or stripe. Connect this to the + (red)
connection.
Using the five-way binding posts: The binding posts permit easy connection to
banana plugs, pins, spade lugs, and bare wire. The metal surfaces are gold
plated to prevent corrosion. Insert the wire in the hole and tighten.
WARNING: To prevent electrical shock, always switch off the amplifier or receiver
when making connections to the speaker.

IMPORTANT: Be sure to hook + to +, – to –.
Setting Up Your Home Theater System
Volume Levels: To obtain the best home theater effect, match the sound levels of
each speaker. Home theater systems include a test signal that simplifies this level
matching. Refer to the instructions provided with your surround sound electronics.
Left/Right Channels and Subwoofer (Micro110x and Micro120x): The sub-
woofer should be wired to the receiver through both the left/right speaker outputs
and the LFE. Using this configuration allows the frequencies below the satellite
speakers frequency response and above the LFE setting to be reproduced by the
subwoofer. On your receiver's setup menu, set the left/right speaker mode to
"SMALL" and "SUBWOOFER-ON". Set the lowpass crossover on the subwoofer
to 150Hz for the Micro110x and 125Hz for the Micro120x.
Note: Boston PV subwoofers have been designed to accept both speaker
level and LFE inputs at the same time. If you are using a different brand sub-
woofer, it is recommended that you contact the subwoofer manufacturer to
verify that it will function in this configuration.
Left/Right Channels and Subwoofer (Micro130x): The subwoofer should be
wired to the receiver using only the through LFE. Wire the left/right speakers to
only the speaker outputs on the receiver. On your receiver's setup menu, Set the
left/right speaker mode to "SMALL" and "SUBWOOFER-ON".
Center Channel and Surround Channel Speakers: Set the center channel and
surround channels to "SMALL." This setting diverts low bass to the LFE channel,
and will result in the greatest total system bass output.
Listening Levels and Power Handling
The power recommendation for the system assumes that you will operate the
amplifier in a way that will not produce distortion. Any speakers can be damaged
by a modest amplifier if it produces distortion. If you hear a harsh, gritty noise, turn
down the volume. Prolonged or repeated operation of your speaker with a distort-
ed signal from the amplifier can cause damage that is not covered by the warranty.
If Service Seems Necessary
First, contact the retailer from whom you purchased the speaker(s). If that is not
