Quick Install
IMPORTANT! Before purchasing or installing drives, check the compatibility list available for your px NVR at
http://support.lenovoemc.com for approved and supported HDD and SSD brands and models.
1. Make sure at least one drive (HDD or SSD) is installed in the px NVR.
2. Use the included network cable to connect the px NVR to your network hub, switch, or router.
3. Use the included power adapter and cord to plug the px NVR into a surge-protected power source.
4. The device will power on automatically.
5. Go to http://setup.lenovoemc.com to launch setup for your px NVR.
If you cannot access the web setup portal or your px device isn't displayed there, use one of the following
options to initiate the setup sequence.
• From a LenovoEMC client, select Configure features, the Manage menu option, or the settings icon.
• From Windows Explorer, go to Network > Other Devices and double-click the device name.
• From a web browser, enter the device IP address or model name (for example, px4-400d). To use the
model name on a Mac, add .local after the name in the browser (for example, px4-400d.local).
6. Once you complete the device setup sequence, the px NVR will automatically boot to the Milestone
Arcus login screen. Login with the username and password you created during setup and accept the end-
user license agreement.
7. If your network uses DHCP, the px NVR will scan for video cameras on the network and
automatically configure and license them. If a camera needs additional configuration or if a camera is not
detected, click the Settings tab.
NOTE: If the px NVR does not have internet access, you will see an alert indicating the license needs
activation. Click Manual Activation and follow the prompts to activate your camera licenses.
8. To configure other network settings, click the Manage icon at the upper right corner of the Settings
screen. This takes you to the LifeLine management interface. Click the help icon if you need instructions
using any feature in LifeLine. Click the Milestone Arcus icon to return to video management.
