MAINTENANCE
- All units are provided with a high temperature hermetically sealed Ni-Cd accumulators battery for
the storage of energy. The manufacturers of these batteries assure a four years operating life for the
battery, or a minimum of 400 charge-discharge cycles. After this period, the batteries must be replaced
to keep unchanging the characteristics of the unit.
- Nominal voltage, duration and the characteristics of the battery are indelibly marked on the label
of the unit.
- Keep these instructions.
WARNING:
• This product contains a non-environmentally friendly Ni-Cd battery. Therefore, it should be either
recycled or disposed of properly.
CAUTION
- Before connection of the unit, always check that the voltage of the distributing mains supply
corresponds with that specified on the label of the unit.
- Make sure that the unit is disconnected from the MAINS before performing any maintenance procedure.
-
Any maintenance procedure must be carried out by qualified personnel.
- In order to prevent an excessive voltage drop during installation, the length of the cable connecting
the beacons should not exceed 150 metres for the PBS-20, or 50 metres for the PBS-60 (with wires
of 1.5 mm² cross-sectional area - 15% total drop). If longer cables are desired, either use wires of
bigger cross-sectional area or connect several cable lines to the beacons.
ACCESORIES
- Normal remote control, remote control with timer, remote control with alarm and remote control
actuated by computer.
- Sherpa and Aras 24Vdc centralized beacons.

3.- FIX THE COVER AND FEED THE UNIT.
.- THE "RED/MAINS", "ON" AND "CARGA/CHARGE" PILOT
LIGHTS WILL COME ON. IF THE "OFF" PILOT LIGHT IS ON, IT
MEANS THAT EITHER THERE IS A SHORT CIRCUIT IN THE
BEACONS WIRING OR BEACONS ARE NOT PROPERLY
CONNECTED.
.- CLEAR THE PROBLEM AND PRESS ON/OFF TO SET THE
EQUIPMENT TO ACTIVE MODE.
.- MAKE SURE THAT ALL LED PILOT LIGHTS OF THE BEACONS
ARE ON. IF PILOT LIGHTS OF ANY BEACON ARE OFF,
CHECK THE WIRING AND THE POLARITY OF THE BEACON
IN PARTICULAR.
.- << WARNING >>: BEFORE STARTING ON THE TEST, PUT
THE EQUIPMENT UNDER CHARGE CONDITION FOR AT
LEAST 24 HOURS.
.- PRESS "TEST" AND, IN EMERGENCY OPERATION MODE,
CHECK THE LIGHTING OF ALL THE BEACONS. IF ANY OF
THEM REMAINS OFF, REPLACE THE INCANDESCENT LAMP.

PBS-20 / PBS-60
Power supply for 24Vdc CENTRALIZED BEACONS
The series of PBS battery-charging equipments has been designed to guarantee adequate power supply
to 24Vdc centralized beacons.
OPERATION
The equipment is provided with two basic operating positions:
À
ACTIVE (ON):
-The unit is automatically set to this position as soon as it is connected to the MAINS, and manually
when the ON button is pressed from the BLOCKED position.
-WHEN MAINTAINED: an electronic circuit recharges the battery of the unit, controls the MAINS
voltage and supplies -6V DC voltage to the Beacons which are connected to the unit. By connecting
a DAISALUX remote-control (optional) to the unit or pressing the TEST button, it is possible to simulate
a failure of the mains supply and so test its operation during an emergency.
- MAINS FAILURE: when the mains voltage drops under 70% of its nominal value: the unit changes
automatically to emergency operation mode, supplying 24V DC voltage to the beacons which are
connected to the unit for a period of time equal or superior to the rated duration of the unit. The
unit may be changed to stand-by mode by using the ON-OFF button. By connecting a DAISALUX
remote-control (optional) to the unit and pressing ON-OFF, emergency operation mode can change
to stand-by mode and vice versa.
Á
BLOCKED (OFF):
-The unit is automatically set to this position in the event of a short circuit in the beacons line, and
manually when the OFF button is pressed from the ACTIVE position. It will remain in this position
until ON is pressed, as long as there are no short circuits in the beacons line.
-In this position, the unit interrupts the power supply to the led pilot lights of the beacons and in
the event of MAINS voltage drop, the unit will not change to emergency operation mode.
