Read this notice carefully before use. This technical notice
illustrates ways of using this product. Only the techniques
shown are advised, all other uses are excluded. In case of
doubt or any problem understanding the use of this product,
please contact Petzl.
Malfunction of this lamp may leave the user in danger.
Learning the techniques of use and care (cleaning, bulb
changing, scraping contacts etc) are entirely the responsibility
of the user.
You personally assume all the risks and responsibilities for all
damage, injury or death which may occur during or following
wrong use of our products in any manner whatsoever.
If you are not able to, or not in a position to assume this
responsibility or to take this risk, do not use this equipment.
Use
- The switch may be locked for transporting or storage
by pressing the red button (1 - A).
To unlock, press on the other end of the red bar (1 - B).
- Switch in upper position : powerful halogen light, but heavy
energy demand (2).
- Switch in lower position : short distance light using
minimum energy (3).
- The zoom button allows focussing the halogen light to suit
the need. In the low position the beam is narrow. In the high
position it is broad (4).
Points to note
If the lamp stays switched on when it is inside a rucksack, the
heat produced by the halogen bulb can damage the reflector
(take care to keep the switch in the off position).
It is impossible to have the 2 bulbs alight at the same time
The battery pouch can be slipped under clothing to keep the
batteries warm. Note that the lifetime of alkaline batteries is
significantly reduced in low temperatures.
In cold conditions or if the batteries are low, the mini-bulb can
give more light than the halogen bulb.
Fitting and replacing batteries
Open the pouch and remove the battery container (5). Never
pull on the wire. Use 4 LR14/C alkaline batteries. Be careful
to fit the batteries correctly with respect to their polarity.
After using the lamp in humid conditions, dry out the
battery container and the pouch. When storing the lamp for
prolonged periods : remove the batteries.
Changing a bulb
Open the front casing by unscrewing the bezel as indicated
in diagram 6. Completely remove the reflector/lens/bezel
assembly. Should it be jammed, try a penetrating fluid, or
warm the front cover with a hair drier.
Halogen bulb : unscrew, tighten the replacement bulb
moderately firmly.
Mini-bulb : pull forwards, check that the fixings are not
twisted before inserting the replacement bulb. Check that the
new bulb works before replacing the bezel.
Replacement bulbs : do not clip old bulbs into the
replacement bulb holder (risk of confusion later).
Darkening bulb = loss of brightness before final failure of
bulb.
To close the headpiece :
- position the reflector/lens/bezel assembly so that the bulbs
fit correctly. (7),
- screw up the bezel (8) until the mark on the bezel is situated
between the two indicator marks on the casing (9).
If the bulb change must be done in bad conditions (wet,
mud, dust...) open up after use, clean the gasket well, dry
the headpiece and lubricate the gasket using only a silicone
based grease.
Should the lamp not work
- Check the batteries,
- check that the bulb is not blown, or that the connections are
not oxidised. Move the small bulb in and out of place several
times, with the switch in the "bulb on" position,
- check the absence of corrosion on the contacts in the battery
container,
- work the switch several times.
If your lamp still does not work, call your service centre.
Cleaning
A dirty lamp must be washed and rinsed in water, with
the front casing closed. Use soap for the elasticated straps.
Do not clean with a high-pressure washer. Do not scrub
with abrasive substances. to clean this, remove the battery
container. When using on high mountains : the natural
humidity contained within the lamp may condense on the lens
in cold conditions : open the front casing to dry it.
