Troubleshooting Guide
Verifying Problem Source
Loose cable connections
Check that all connections are tight and inspect cabling for damage.
Damaged wire harness
Inspect cable for damage, specifically for worn areas in
harness jacket and at crimps in connectors.
Damaged ballast cable
Inspect cable for nicks or severe kinks.
Failed electronic ballast
Swap ballast to other side.
Failed HID light source
Swap ballast to other side.
Failed fuse
Inspect fuses in wire harness for failure.
Failed relay
With headlights switched ON verify power to input wires
and output pins. If no power on output pins, relay has failed.
• Retighten any loose connections, making certain that ballast
connectors are fully inserted.
• If broken wires are located, replace harness.
• If no broken wires are found, perform continuity check on harness
connectors to verify contact. (See Figures 7 and 8 for contacts and
wiring information.)
• If damaged, return lamp unit to OSPI for repair and service.
DO NOT attempt to repair ballast cable as it conducts
high voltages.
• If problem follows ballast, replace ballast.
• If problem remains, it is likely the ballast is not the cause.
• If problem stays with the lamp, return to OSPI for repair
and service.
• If lamp now operates, the ballast, ballast cable, or wire harness is
causing the problem.
• Replace fuse.
• If fuse fails repeatedly, check wiring harness for shorts.
• Replace relay.
