Operation
4.1
Power supply
Power is supplied via the integrated power supply unit
in the BEA 950.

If the BEA 950 is operated outdoors, it is advis-
able to use a power source which is protected by a
ground fault circuit interrupter. The unit is only to be
operated in dry conditions.

To avoid the formation of condensation, allow the
BEA 055 to adjust to the ambient temperature be-
fore switching the BEA 950 on.

The details of the power supply for the BEA 055 are
displayed on a sticker on the rear of the unit.

Switching the unit on/off

Switching on the unit

Switch on the BEA 055 via the BEA 950.

Alternate orange and green flashing of LED (fig. 1,

4.2.2
Switching off the unit
To keep contamination of the BEA 055 to a minimum,
it is advisable to flush residual gas out of the BEA 055
with the pump running prior to switching off. The ex-
haust gas sampling probe must be in the open air for
this purpose.

First, exit from the exhaust gas test step and wait for
completion of pump run-on. Only switch off the BEA
950 after this has completed.

4.3
BEA 055 configuration
After installing the BEA software, the device interface of
the BEA 055 must be set. The BEA 055 is connected to
the BEA 950 PC via the USB connection cable.
1. Switch on the BEA 950.
2. Select "Start >> All programs >> Bosch >> Diagnos-
tics >> Central Device Communication" or click on "
" in the task bar with the left mouse key.
CDC – Central Device Communication is opened.
3. Select "Settings >> Device interfaces".

Pressing <F1> opens the Online Help for a display
of the most important information on setting the
interface.
4. Configure the BEA 055 in the GAM Group (USB).
The BEA 055 is ready for operation.
5. Start SystemSoft BEA PC.
