2. Start the engine and allow it to run until it stops.
This ensures no fuel is left in the carburetor. Run
the engine until it stops. This helps prevent plastic
deposits from forming inside the carburetor and
possible engine damage.
3. While the engine is still warm, drain the oil from
the engine. Refill with fresh oil of the grade rec-
ommended in the Engine Manual.
4. Allow the engine to cool. Remove the spark plug
and put 30 ml of high quality motor oil into the cyl-
inder. Pull the starter rope slowly to distribute the
oil. Replace the spark plug.
m ATTENTION! Remove the spark plug and drain all
of the oil from the cylinder before attempting to start
the unit after storage.
5. Use clean cloths to clean off the outside of the
tiller and to keep the air vents free of obstructions.

Possible cause
1. The starter is not in the correct position
for the prevailing conditions
2. The reservoir is empty
3. The air filter components are dirty
4. Spark plug is loose
5. Spark plug wire improperly attached or
disconnected from the outlet
6. Incorrect spark plug gap
7. Defective spark plug
8. Carburetor immersed in gasoline - Gas
switch is in the OFF position
1. Lighter module defective
2. Dirt, water or mold from the gas tank
3. The hole in the tank stopper is obstruct-
ed
4. The air filter components are dirty
1. Air filter components are dirty
2. The throttle level is blocked by debris
3. Cooling fins and air passages under the
motor are blocked
1. The gap between the spark plug elec-
trodes is too small.
1. Cooling air flow is obstructed.
2. Defective spark plug.
1. The tiller has not been properly assem-
bled. The power tiller assembly is not
balanced
m ATTENTION! Do not use strong detergents or pe-
troleum based cleaners when cleaning plastic parts.
Chemicals can damage plastics.
6. Inspect for any loose or damaged parts. Repair or
