Required for operation:
Commercially available pump or filter for the aquarium (e.g. JBL CristalProfi) or pond with hose
connection facility.
CAUTION: This appliance contains glass! Please handle with care!
B Setting up
Important preliminary information:
Newly established aquaria and ponds should be allowed to run for 4 - 8 weeks without a UV-C
water clarifier in order to allow sufficient beneficial cleansing bacteria to settle in the filter.
If the pump capacity of the filter or pump (often in the case of ponds) to be used exceeds the flow rate stated in the
table, it is recommended that a bypass is installed or only part of the water flow is channelled through the UV-C water
clarifier. The UV-C water clarifier should always be connected to the outflow or pumping side of the pump, never to the
inflow or suction side. Hence when the appliance is fitted in an aquarium, it is usually positioned after flowing through
the filter, and in the pond before flowing through the filter. For this reason, newly established ponds should be allowed
to run for 4 - 8 weeks without a UV-C water clarifier in order to allow sufficient cleansing bacteria to settle in the filter.
Illustration B shows a typical installation.
The JBL AquaCristal UV-C Water clarifier can be safely operated to pressures of up to 1.0 bar.The appliance cannot be
operated with pumps which produce more than 1.0 bar pressure or connected directly to the water mains.
In the case of the 9 - 36 W models, the hose connection nozzles are secured with union nuts, allowing easy installation
and dismantling, as well as rotation in any direction.
