Instruction manual. Troubleshooting and warranty.
Registering (pairing) a device
The first time the controller is used or when using the controller on another PS4™ console will
require pairing it with the system. This requires connecting the controller to the console using a
USB cable while the console is powered on.
If you wish to use two or more controllers, you will need to pair each controller separately.
Press the PS button on the controller and select a user.
Up to four controllers can be paired at the same time. When the PS button is pressed, the light bar
will illuminate only the assigned color. The assigned color will depend on the order in which each
user presses the PS button. The first is blue, the second red, the third green and the fourth pink.
Charging
The controller battery is charged when connected to the console via USB cable. The console must
be on or in standby. The battery charge level is shown on the display when the PS button is
pressed and held.
When the console is idle, the light bar on the controller flashes faintly orange. When the controller
is charged, the light bar on the controller turns off.
The controller will charge in about two hours when fully discharged.
Charge the remote in temperatures between 10 °C and 30 °C (50 °F and 86 °F). Outside these
temperatures, charging will not be efficient.
It is recommended to charge the controller at least once a year for optimum performance.
Battery life will depend on how the controller is used and the environment in which it is used and
stored.
To charge the controller when the console is idle, select an option other than [Off] in (Settings) >
[Power Saving Settings] > [Set options available in idle mode] > [Provide power to USB ports].
