Clear Elbow ccessory
This elbow offers a variety of flexible pipe orientations.
s shown in the diagram, the end with the fitted threaded locknut may be fitted
to either the inlet or the outlet of the UV unit.
It is important to correctly seat gasket
inlet/outlet and sandwich it between this face and the face of the
clear elbow. It is important to use gasket
gasket B. Gasket
a softer material than gasket B. Gasket B is supplied with the original
UV unit.
Fitting procedure:
1. Fit the hosetail to the
end of the clear elbow
as shown in the diagram
and as explained in the
UV unit instruction
book.
2. Fit your flexible hose
(not supplied) to the
hosetail.
3. Fit the complete clear
elbow/hosetail assembly
to the inlet/outlet of the
UV unit, ensuring gasket
is correctly seated as
described above. The
fittedlocknut must now
be tightened onto the
inlet/outlet, ensuring
that it is fully hand
tightened to prevent any
water leaks.
PLE SE NOTE
The clear elbow/hosetail
assembly will not support
excessive weight. If you have
long or awkward runs of plastic hose this must be supported, to prevent over-
stressing the complete assembly.
If the clear elbow/hosetail assembly is rotated after it has been connected to
the UV inlet/outlet, the fitted locknut must be re-tightened to ensure that there
is still a good watertight seal.
If the clear elbow/hosetail assembly is accidently knocked or bumped, or if any
maintenance has been carried out, the clear elbow/hosetail assembly should be
checked to ensure it is still positioned and fitted correctly.
Failure to follow these instructions or carry out the above checks may
result in a water leak. If in doubt always check that the assembly is
watertight.
Connection using rigid pipe
This unit may also be rigid plumbed in either of the following ways:-
1. Using TMC universal rigid pipe adaptors available from your aquatic
supplier (part no. PC DRP CTO4).
These should be fitted as shown in the diagram below.
. If using 40mm solvent weld plastic pipe the adaptor will be glued into the
pipe. It is essential to fit the lock nut before you solvent weld the adaptor
into the 40mm pipe. When solvent welding the two parts, sufficient space
(20mm as shown) must be left between the adaptor and the 40mm pipe
to allow the lock nut to be undone.
B. If using 1" solvent weld pipe the pipe will be glued into the adaptor at the
first stepped stage.
C. If using 32mm solvent weld pipe the pipe will be glued into the adaptor at
the second stepped stage.

Lock Nut
Important: Once you have solvent welded the two parts they must be left to
fully cure before making the final connection between the rigid pipe adaptor
2
and the V
ecton. When attaching the plumbed rigid adaptors to the unit ensure
that the gaskets are seated correctly between the flat face of the pipe adaptor
and the flat face of the inlet/outlet ports. Do not use a jointing compound or
PTFE tape.
For US rigid plumbing you should use the 1" pipe option above.
