PLANNING: Plan your fall protection system prior to installation of the Tripod System. Account for all factors that may
affect your safety before, during and after a fall. Consider all requirements, limitations and specifications defined in
Section 2 and Table 1.
3.2
INSTALLING THE TrIPod SySTEm: To install the Tripod System, see Figure 7:
1.
Stand collapsed Tripod on the floor with feet down. Remove leg retainer pins[2] from 3 places in the tripod head.
Fully spread all 3 legs.
2.
Install leg retainer pins[2] in 3 places to lock the legs in the spread position. Remove the 3 leg adjustment pins[3]
from legs, and extend the legs to fully extended height position.
3.
Install the 3 leg adjustment pins to lock the leg in the fully extended position. If there is only 1 operator setting up
the system, it is easier to extend the legs by lying the tripod on the ground.
4.
Position tripod over entry and ensure structure is level. Adjust lengths of leg(s) as required by removing leg
adjustment pins one at a time and extending or retracting leg(s) as needed. Be careful to reinstall all three leg
adjustment pins once the tripod is level.
5.
Ensure that the slack is removed from the leg chain between all legs after setup and leveling. Adjust the chain by
loosening quick the connect links at the feet, and moving the quick link on chain as required.
;
The chain is required on the tripod. Removing the chain completely from the system during use can cause
serious injury or even death.
6.
Once the tripod has been set up and leveled, the winch assembly can be installed. Lay the tri-pod on its side, with the
leg containing the pulley [B] facing up.
7.
Remove the three winch bracket retainer pins [F,I] and install winch bracket [G] over the tri-pod leg [E]. Install two
winch bracket retainer pins [F] through the winch bracket [G] behind the tripod leg [E].
8.
Slide the winch assembly [H] up or down the tripod leg [E] to desired location, and install the winch bracket retainer
pin [I].
9.
Remove the cable retainer pin [C] from the top pulley assembly [B], and route the cable [J] over the pulley. Extend
sufficient cable from the winch [H] to reach over the pulley through the head assembly [D], plus an extra 5 feet ( 1.5
m) through. Re-install the cable retainer pin [C] and return the tripod to upright position.
10. Re-level the Tripod as required.
