INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Note: Do not apply any type of lubricant, lotion, or
powder to the residual limb or to the Volume
Management Pad or to the Alpha Liner, as these
products could damage the Volume Management
Pad. The residual limb should be clean, dry, and free
of soap residue.
1.
Determine where on your limb that you have lost
volume. Keep in mind that it is most likely to be a
soft tissue area.
2.
Select a Volume Management Pad according to
the amount of volume that has been lost. For
slight volume loss, a small Volume Management
Pad can be used. For larger volume loss, a large
Volume Management Pad can be used, or several
Volume Management Pads can be stacked on top
of each other (with the largest pad closest to the
skin).

3.
Place the Volume Management Pad(s) on the area
of your limb where you have lost volume, with the
thin, tapered edge of the pad against the skin and
the convex side of the pad to the outside. (Placing
the Volume Change Pad upside-down will cause
the Pad to change shape.)
Note: The Volume Management Pad will only be
effective if it is placed onto the area where volume
has been lost. For example, for transtibial amputees,
the area most likely to lose volume is the area at the
back of the leg, even though the looseness may be
felt on the front of the leg at the tibia.
4.
Don the Alpha Liner over your limb according to
the instructions provided with the Alpha Liner,
then don the prosthesis.

Management Pad for cleaning.
DAILY CLEANING
Each Volume Management Pad should be thoroughly
cleaned at the end of each day of wear.
1.
Immediately after removing the Volume
Management Pad from the limb, clean the Volume
Management Pad thoroughly with tap water and a
body soap that does not leave a residue. Apply
soap either by hand or with a clean, soft cloth or
sponge.
Note: Do not scrub the Volume Management Pad.
Scrubbing can roughen the surface of the Volume
Management Pad, which can then irritate the skin.
2.
Take special care to rinse all soap residue from the
Volume Management Pad.
3.
Place the Volume Management Pad on a soft,
lint-free cloth to dry.
WEEKLY CLEANING (FOR DISINFECTION)
1.
Place a small amount of ethyl or isopropyl alcohol
on a soft, clean cloth.
2.
Lightly wipe the Volume Management Pad with
the cloth.
3.
Place the Volume Management Pad on a soft,
lint-free cloth to dry.
Note: Do not soak the Volume Management Pad in
the ethyl or isopropyl alcohol. Extended contact with
large amounts of ethyl or isopropyl alcohol will stiffen
the Volume Management Pad.
STORAGE
When the pads are not in use, store them in the
carrying pouch that was provided with the pads.
