Installing Fans
The fan cover opens to reveal the appliance's eight fans, numbered 1–8 from left to right, which maintain
the unit's optimal temperature for system components. Fans are hot-swappable and include a status LED
just below the fan on the motherboard. Fan status LEDs exhibit the following behavior.
LED Color
Off
Solid green
Solid red
Fan Status LEDs (1–8)
To install a replacement fan:
1 If the appliance is rack-mounted, extend the appliance out the front of the rack to its locked position.
For more information, see "Extending and Removing the Appliance From the Rack" on page 29.
2 Unlock the fan cover's latches by pushing them toward the front of the appliance, then lift the cover
and pull it toward the front of the appliance.
