cEntral shuttEr
The Leica Apo-Elmar-S 180mm f/3.5 is available in two versions: with and without a built-in
central, or leaf shutter. Use the main switch on the camera to select whether you want to use
its focal plane shutter or the central shutter in the lens. The central shutter provides particu-
larly short flash sync speeds (for further details, refer to the relevant sections in the camera
manual).
FocusIng
In autofocus mode, the focus is set automatically by the camera and in manual mode by
turning the distance setting ring (3; for fur ther details, refer to the relevant sections in the
camera manual).

DEpth oF FIElD

As Leica S lenses do not have an aperture ring, there is no depth of field scale. Refer to the
table on p. 82-83 for the corresponding values.
